Highlights

Represents McDermott’s industry leading modular program delivery expertise by reducing the original plot acreage from 40 acres to 26 acres and removing 3000 craft at peak from site
All module fabrication delivered within two years from first steel cut

The GCGV project is a multi-billion-dollar greenfield chemical complex near Gregory, Texas, including site infrastructure (common facilities), 1.8 MTA ethane crackers and utilities, 1000 KTA MEG units, and two 650 KTA polyethylene derivative units. The MEG unit represents the largest single-train MEG production facility in the world. To ensure the success of the MEG unit, McDermott developed and executed its own design and arrangement to maximize modularization and minimize onsite work hours. The project also leveraged McDermott’s global capabilities by fabricating all five process modules in our QMW yard and all three pipe racks in our Altamira yard

The project reached one million work hours without a lost-time incident during the fabrication of the platform at the Jebel Ali yard in Dubai. Another impressive milestone was the safe and successful stacking of deck level one and double bottom which was conducted in a tandem lift involving an arrangement of six cranes. This complex operation had a lift weight of 1,962 MT, and represented the heaviest stacking ever performed at Jebel Ali.

This project incorporates cutting-edge technologies, including Honeywell LNG's C3MR liquefaction technology, with electric drive compressors using imported renewable hydroelectric power to facilitate the production and export of LNG. The facility consists of a single liquefaction train, with a capacity of 2.1 million metric tons per annum. In addition, a gas pre-treatment facility is integrated into the project. Two floating storage tanks with a capacity of 130,000 m3 each along with a dedicated loading berth are also included. The facility has been designed to be fully modularized, enhancing efficiency and reducing onsite construction risks.

Engineering, procurement and construction contractor for South America's first LNG liquefaction facility, located in the remote Pampa Melchorita region. The facility has a production capacity of 4.5 million tons per year and utilizes a propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant process. It cools natural gas to -160°C (-260°F), reducing its volume by approximately 600 times for efficient storage and transport. Key systems include four refrigeration compressors, two gas turbines and a fully integrated support infrastructure.

Together, with our JV partner Chiyoda and Zachry Group, we achieved substantial completion of Trains 1, 2 and 3, bringing the project to full commercial operation. The project scope included three pre-treatment trains, a liquefaction facility with three trains, a second loading berth and a 165,000 m3 full containment LNG storage tank. The Freeport LNG facility incorporates the largest electric motor-driven refrigeration compressors in the world and will significantly improve North America's energy export capabilities.
