Choosing to Support and Work with ICEBM Canada.
Continuing medical education (CME) programs created for healthcare providers increasingly needs to satisfy higher quality standards, especially in terms of program design and educational content.
To satisfy the requirements of the College of Family Physicians (CFPC), Conseil Québécois de Développement Professionnel Continu des Médecins (CQDPCM) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) for MOC accreditation or Mainpro+ certification, funders/sponsors need to engage the services of a qualifying not-for-profit physician organization for the development of all educational initiatives. The physician organization must have expertise in the development, delivery and evaluation of continuing medical educational activities.
What is the ICEBM Canada?
Established in 2011, the ICEBM is a national, federally incorporated not-for-profit physician organization whose members include a number of highly respected professors of specialist and family medicine from leading university medical schools from across Canada. All are practicing clinicians, pharmacists or other health care providers.
We meet all the requirements of a physician organization and a CPD provider. The members of the ICEBM Scientific Council are experts in the review and evaluation of published clinical evidence, and highly knowledgeable about current medical best practices. Most importantly, they are actively involved in the management of patients in a real-world medical setting and therefore understand the day-to-day clinical challenges faced by community-based primary care physicians and others.
What makes the ICEBM different?
With our extensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice, ICEBM is skilled at evaluating the published medical literature and review of clinical practice guidelines for development of treatment algorithms and other useful innovative clinical decision-making tools such as Evidence Briefs.
At the same time, we work closely with leading disease consultants and specialists to take advantage of both their expert opinion and wealth of clinical experience in terms of the management of specific patients and medical challenges in each disease area. To achieve sustained learning and a meaningful change in clinical decision-making and practice behaviour, we design innovative engaging learning programs that not only address important knowledge gaps, but also encourage health care providers to reflect on what they have learned and apply it in the management of their patients.
